While it often contradicts my personality to take care of myself over others, my learning of self-care through my psychology program has taught me that I cannot care for others well if I do not take care of myself first. Many resources have shown proven results of mindfulness breathing and meditation in order to improve mood and cognitive ability such as in the PSY-222 Project One artifact. As a result, I have been able to incorporate mindful breathing techniques into my daily life to reduce stress especially during work. By prioritizing my own self-care, I feel as though I have improved as a professional and become a valuable asset to my company.Â
